There is so much you can do! Its not too late.

  • Educate yourself and be represented at community meetings.
  • Any info that you can add to this website (by contacting me or sharing it in the comments) would be greatly valued.
  • Edit the current Wikipedia articles to include current info, maps, and news for each of the proposed lines.

Bottineau Transitway

The Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) has requested that the City of Golden Valley reconsider its endorsement of the Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) alignment of the Bottineau Transitway.

Golden Valley is the only city that has not approved of the Locally Preferred Alternative. Contact the Golden Valley mayor and council members and let them know you want them to “Vote No!” on December 18th. Due to pressure from Hennepin County and the Metropolitan Council, Golden Valley is voting on the possibility of further study for the second time this year (there was a vote in June against further study).

Southwest Transitway

The Southwest Transitway seems to have been approved by all cities. The approval process for the light rail lines in Minneapolis is a difficult process to understand. Even the city council members of Golden Valley seem to have been confused. From the Southwest Transitway FAQs:

Where is Southwest LRT in the approval process?

The Southwest LRT project is early in the Engineering phase and still needs to complete the environmental review process, engineering and design before it can receive final approval for federal funding.
